Bone Density

Osteoporosis, which is the deterioration of bone tissue and increases the risk of bone fractures, is now a treatable and preventable disease.

A DEXA [dual energy x-ray absorptiometry] densitometer is the tool we use here at Sussex County Medical Associates to assess bone density.  This can provide early detection of low bone mineral density in the spine and hip that may be effectively treated with existing and new drug therapies.  Proper treatment can help reduce the deterioration of bone tissue and the risk of bone fractures.

The entire exam requires about 10 minutes including analysis and printing.   Please call our office for more information or to make an appointment with your personal physician  to assess whether or not this test is appropriate for you.

If you schedule an appointment with us for this exam, please take a moment to download, print, and complete our Bone Density Questionnaire form.  Present this form when you arrive for your exam.
